We have pulled together answers to the most common questions about the Garska family adventure to County Kerry. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask.

What kind of weather should we expect and what should we pack?

Irish weather is notoriously unpredictable. Pack plenty of layers, as it can be warm and sunny one moment and chilly or rainy the next. High-quality waterproof clothing and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are essential. Do not forget to bring a bathing suit for the Europe Hotel and water shoes if you fancy going for a swim around Cahersiveen.

Most activities in Ireland are outdoor despite the variable weather. Tours will still continue in the rain and wind - please pack accordingly. Umbrellas are not recommended as they will not survive the wind.

Please note any boat trip will be weather dependent. Also note that all boat tours which leave the harbor are considered 'deep sea' tours as they enter the Atlantic Ocean and can result in large waves even on a nice day.

Electricity is 230 volts. For overseas visitors, you will need a voltage converter and plug adapter (3-pin flat, UK style plugs). Bedrooms at The Europe Hotel & Resort all include a US socket for convenience.

Can I use my credit or debit card, and how does currency work?

Most shops, restaurants, and pubs accept cards, but American Express is not accepted in the majority of establishments. Please plan on carrying a Visa or Mastercard. ATMs are readily available across town. Please keep in mind that local banks will not exchange US Dollars to Euros unless you already hold an account with them.

Do I need to carry cash or tip in Ireland?

It is wise to keep a some Euro cash handy for local taxis, buses, or small incidental purchases as the occasional shop, pub or tours do not accept card.

Tipping culture in Ireland is very different from North America; there is no obligation or expectation to tip, though tips for great service are always appreciated.

Is the schedule tightly packed or flexible?

The holiday is designed as a relaxed mix of organised group outings and plenty of free time. You will have ample opportunity to wander, relax, grab a quiet pint, or explore local sights at your own pace without feeling rushed.

You can take part in as many or as little organized activities as you want.

How do shared group buses and day trips work?

Take a look through our sightseeing and activity lists and let us know what catches your eye. Based on family interest, we will coordinate shared coaches for popular day trips. Our local bus drivers require accurate passenger headcounts in advance to schedule the right bus size and calculate group costs. For anything outside of these, local taxis can easily be arranged.

What is the deadline for confirming our activity choices?

Please let us know your activity choices by April 2027. This deadline gives us enough lead time to finalise group bus bookings and secure reservations across Kerry.

*Please note you will need to RSVP by November 2026 if you want to land at the Skellig Islands (visitor numbers are limited by the Office of Public Works and boats sell out quickly) or if you want a Spa treatment at the Europe Hotel (spaces are limited).

What meals will be organised?

In Killarney, breakfast is included in the room price and is available from 7am to 11am daily.

Group dinners will be organised each night in Killarney and Cahersiveen. Information will be provided closer to the trip. We are planning a mixture of restaurant dining and catering at our house.

Lunches in both places and Cahersiveen breakfasts will not be formally organized.
